Weekend Freebies in #yeg Sept 10-13

This weekend was EXPLODING all over the city with freebies. If you viewed my previous blog I wrote about just a few of the events happening in and around Edmonton. Almost everything was starting at 10am Saturday and Sunday so it was unfortunate that some events were missed.

On Saturday there were two clothing and home “stuff” giveaways. One on the west end at Beulah Alliance Church starting at 10 am and the other in Sherwood Park at Sherwood Park Alliance Church starting at 10:30 am. If you viewed my previous blog about these massive giveaways you know you shouldn’t miss them!

Kingsway Mall was hosting once again Fitset. Free different workouts getting “fit for fall” #free every weekend in September. Saturday’s class was free pilates. (Go 4 times and they give you a free $25 gift card) Times from 11am-12pm.

At Rocky Mountain Soap Co. in Southgate Centre they were giving away #free face masks.

Cabelas had a free “Ladies Day Out” and gave out freebies and coupons along with having tables set up like workshops.

Northpoint Community Church had a #free carnival. The kids got to play games and win tickets to enter to win prizes.  They could put their tickets won into any prize draw they would like, and at the end of the event they draw the winning tickets.  They had free bouncy castles, free cotten candy, free balloon animals, free photo booth, free crafts, and free food. This event was from 10am-3pm and the food was taken away at around 1pm so those who showed up at 2pm for food were sadly disappointed (myself included).

Namao Center Sobeys had a #free BBQ. The BBQ was outside of Sobeys were they gave out hotdogs and pop for a donation. They had two draws as well. One draw for a bike and the other for a Toronto Maple Leaves jersey. Their event was from 10am-4pm and at 4pm they did the draw which you did not need to be there to win. We waited to hear whom the winner was… and did not win this time.

The Lego store at Southgate Centre had a #free Friends Pop Star mini build. They had the kids make a little piano (on Saturday) and a little drum kit (on Sunday) to take home. Additionally they gave out Lego swag bags that had Friends friendship bracelets, a poster and more inside!

Ivivva at Southgate Centre had free yoga. The class had about 8 kids in it. You did not need to bring your own matt.

Different communities had events this weekend on the west end. They were Granville Days and Henley Heights Fall Showhome Celebration.

At Granville Days there were 5 bouncy castles, Franks hot dogs, pop and water, cupcakes, a draw, a colouring contest, paddle boats, horse and wagon rides and yes all #free!!

At Henley Heights Fall Showhome Celebration went from noon- 5 pm. We went to Bedrock Homes where I met a very upbeat and fun lady named Kate. She was helpful and pleasant. If you were looking for a new place I’d go chat with Kate! They had face painting, popcorn, tea and coffee, a bouncy castle, free flowers, free poutine from la Poutine and 104.9 Virgin Radio was on location. I chatted with Tim from Virgin Radio who, unfortunately for me, had no freebies for me. Talking with  man at Bedrock Homes whom I had seen the day before at Granville Days said that he loved coming to these events because they are free, otherwise he couldn’t afford it. I find it ridiculous that people spend $3.00 for their child to go on a bouncy castle for 30 seconds. Free is the way to be and at these show home events it was ALL free – so jump as much as you would like! (even I had a jump)

We couldn’t make it to every event in and around the city but we sure try! Stay tuned for more #free #yegevents in and around the city.
