It’s been ONE Year!

It’s been officially one year since the launch of my first (yes I said FIRST) children’s book. Looking back there are things I wish I would have done, things I’m happy with that I did do and things I definitely want to improve on moving forward. So lets take a short trip down memory lane…

Sometime I’m my early years of life I wanted to write a trilogy. This seeming slightly ridiculous and impossible lead me to reject this idea or perhaps “shelving it”. The idea or really the desire for writing a book(s) has always been around in my mind for quite some time.

Fast forward to 2019 when a prophet named Samual Robinson spoke over me about my writing (I’ve been blogging since 2015). I then really started to be open about writing in any capacity. In March of 2020 Samual Robinson started doing 1pm Facebook live videos on his Voice of Revival page every single day! During this time I would be nursing my baby so I started listening to him everyday while I nursed her and she would fall alseep and sleep in my arms the whole broadcast. The broadcast brought hope and healing to many! For me, it opened my mind. During this period of time nursing my baby, being alone, having quiet time, praying and singing, the Holy Spirit started bringing phrases to my mind. At first I didn’t think anything of the phrases in my mind. Then the next day, and the next day and the next day the phrases would come again. I obviously started noticing a pattern and started to write down the phrase I heard. Then, once I wrote that phrase down, another phrase would be dropped into my mind and another and another and so as I continued to write each phrase down until the story was completed. Holy Spirit also gave me screen shot of what the photos were to look like. This is why for this story my name is also the illustrator.

When I finally wrote out all the phrases I received from Holy Spirit I realized that this was a story of my life, my daughters life. Some of the most shameful parts of our lives we hideaway to hope to never relive or even talk about. However God uses the pain of our past for His Glory! (more of that still to come) ‘I’m So Special’ is a true story about a little girl who lives her early years of life in a broken home but knows in her heart that she is “So Special”. To know more about the book check out my facebook page here.

While in Edmonton at a Christian book store we made note of some local artist books and who they were published by. I then contacted Page Masters and sent them by book. I met with them during the pandemic and published ‘I’m So Special’.

After the publication of ‘I’m So Special’ I had the pleasure of sharing HOPE and HEALING with those whom hearts still need to be mended. The pain of the past and shame of the past can last a life time. However, I refuse to let it last in my lifetime. The phrase “I’m so special” rings true for YOU, yes you the reader.
